| What Does Our School Offer? |
| Primary Program (Ages three to six) |
- Practical life enhances the development of task organization and cognitive order through care of self, care of the environment, exercises of grace and courtesy, and coordination of movement.
- Sensorial enables the child to order, classify, and describe sensory impressions in relation to length, width, temperature, mass, and color.
- Mathematics makes use of manipulative materials that enable children to internalize mathematical concepts.
- The program includes oral language development, written expression, reading, the study of grammar, creative dramatics, and children’s literature.

| Elementary Program (Ages six to nine) |
- Integration of the arts, sciences, geography, history, and language evokes the child’s imagination.
- Presentation of knowledge is done as part of a large scale that unfolds the origins of the earth, life, and history – always in the context of the wholeness of life.
- Formal, scientific language is presented.
- Timelines, pictures, etc. are used to provide an overview of each discipline.
- Mathematics is presented with concrete materials that reveal geometric and algebraic correlations.
- Emphasis is placed on open-ended research.
- Field trips and individual/class projects are initiated that make use of community resources beyond the four walls of the classroom.

What a wonderful heritage to be the first public Montessori school for Nashville! Because of the exhilarating spirit that is behind this premiere institution, our vision has been made possible. We are proud to continue the international legacy of Dr. Maria Montessori. We have united with our sister schools across the nation to bring an example of excellence in teaching and learning to Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.
The Montessori method ensures that younger students acquire a positive attitude toward learning. All students learn through a combination of effective teaching strategies and environmental stimuli that results in achieving their fullest potential. Fourth grade students follow the Montessori methods and techniques to which they were exposed in earlier grades; however; they are prepared to transition from the Montessori environment to a more traditional setting.

Who Attends Our School?
Because Hull-Jackson is a magnet school, any student living in Davidson County may apply to attend through the lottery. The school has a geographic priority zone (GPZ) allowing 30% of available seats to students residing in this area. All students interested in attending a magnet school must submit applications prior to the deadline. For more information about the lottery, call 259-INFO.

PENCIL Partners
PENCIL Foundation, a nonprofit organization, links community resources with Nashville public schools. A PENCIL Partner is a business or other community organization that teams up with a Metro school to volunteer time and donate resources that promote student success.

Community Partners
Hull-Jackson utilizes an organizational blend of PTO and Family Circles. Each family is a member of a Family Circle which is a cluster of Montessori families within the school. Each Family Circle acts as an extended family community for the betterment of students through planned activities that enhance classroom experiences. |
